Classroom Highlights

Students completed their animal research projects this week. The students spent some time presenting their animal habitats to the class. On the last day of the project, the children were able to present their reports and habitat dioramas to the Kindergarten class, first and second graders, and even Pastor!

We have started studying how Earth moves in space. We also have learned about years, months, and seasons based upon these movements in space. Our class is working on a mini unit about volcanoes. The class has had a big interest in Pompeii, an Italian city that was destroyed by Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79.

The students are working more on root words and how the definition of a root gives clues to what bigger words could mean. This week the students are working with the Latin root: - rupt, which means to break or burst. The students are taking this information and are working with words such as: erupt, interrupt, abrupt, and rupture. To go along with the root word – rupt.
